MongoDB Atlas pricing calculator
A monthly Atlas bill split into the cluster tier, backups and data transfer, on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, with the Flex price of the same app beside it while it still fits.
What does MongoDB Atlas cost a month? (prices checked 2026-11-08)
Flex costs $8 to $30 a month, by operations per second, up to 5 GB. A dedicated M10 on AWS is $0.08 an hour, about $57 to $58 a month, and M30, the first tier with dedicated vCPUs, is $0.54 an hour: $394.20 for 730 hours. Add 40 GB of backup snapshots at $0.14 ($5.60) and 200 GB out to the internet at $0.09 ($18.00) and an M30 month comes to $417.80.

Prices from mongodb.com/pricing and the Atlas billing docs, checked 2026-11-08. Cluster prices are per replica set with the default storage, in N. Virginia (AWS), Virginia eastus2 (Azure) or Iowa (Google Cloud); the page rounds them, so M10 shows here a little above MongoDB's own "about $57". Custom storage, extra IOPS, continuous backup and the config servers of a sharded cluster are billed on top and are not included. Backup and transfer rates are the low end of MongoDB's published range for each cloud; other regions cost more. Incoming data is free.
Why the cluster line grows
Almost all of an Atlas bill is the hourly tier, and it runs whether the database is busy or not. Each step up roughly doubles it, so the question that saves the most money is usually "does this cluster need to be this big, and does it need to run all month?" Slow queries without the right index make a cluster look like it needs more RAM than it does; a staging or test cluster left running 730 hours costs the same as production. Pausing a cluster stops the hourly line but not the storage.
The cloud matters too: the same M30 is $0.54 an hour on AWS and $0.44 on Google Cloud. Backups grow quietly, because a tier change or a failover can leave extra full snapshots behind. And data transfer is cheap until the app reading the database sits in another region or another cloud.
The MongoDB Atlas pricing guide goes through Flex, the dedicated tiers and these lines with the dates we checked them. If your Atlas bill doesn't match this page, the free cloud cost audit is $0 and we'll tell you why, and our cloud cost optimization services are $0 up front, paid from 50% of the verified saving for 6 months.
