Credit rates from Netlify's pricing page and its "How credits work" docs, checked 2026-10-16: a production deploy is 15 credits, bandwidth 20 credits per GB, web requests 2 credits per 10,000, function compute 10 credits per GB-hour, AI inference 180 credits per $1 of model cost. Deploy previews, branch deploys, failed deploys and form submissions use no credits. Extra credits come in packs: 500 for $5 on Personal, 1,500 for $10 on Pro; Free can't buy more. When an account reaches zero credits, Netlify pauses every site on it. Accounts created before September 4, 2025 can still be on Netlify's legacy plans, which bill differently.
Why the deploy line grows
On the old Netlify plans a deploy cost nothing but build minutes. Under credits, every successful production deploy is 15 credits, whatever the site's size. That is roughly 10 cents at the Pro pack rate, which sounds like nothing until you count. A team that merges to main 4 times a workday ships about 88 production deploys a month: 1,320 credits, more than a whole Personal plan, before a single visitor arrives.
The things that push it up are rarely deliberate. A CMS that triggers a rebuild on every content save, a scheduled rebuild every hour to refresh some data (720 deploys and 10,800 credits a month on its own), or a monorepo where one commit deploys five sites. Deploy previews are free, so the cheap habit is to review on previews and merge to production in batches.
Bandwidth is the other big one at 20 credits per GB. Images are usually most of it, and a set of uncompressed hero images on a landing page that gets shared can burn a month of credits in a weekend. On Free that ends with every site on the account showing "Site not available" until the month resets, which is the real cost of the Free plan.
